CONTEXT
Clear communication is key in any workplace, but deaf clients often struggle to stay connected with their job coaches—whether they’re hearing, deaf, or hard-of-hearing—due to limited and outdated communication options. Relying on interpreters or written notes can be slow and frustrating, leading to missed information, delayed support, and a less satisfying work experience.
PROBLEM DEFINITION
The problem can be summed up as the following:
Deaf clients lack a seamless, accessible, and real-time communication platform to connect with their job coaches, resulting in reduced efficiency, limited support, and decreased empowerment in the workplace.
DISCOVERY
Communication Barriers: Deaf clients often have to rely on slow or indirect ways to communicate, which can lead to missed opportunities and frustrating misunderstandings with job coaches.
Difficulty Accessing Resources: Without a centralized platform, simple tasks like scheduling meetings, finding job-related information, and sharing documents become time-consuming and inefficient.
Lack of Personalized Support: Deaf clients want a more tailored and inclusive experience—one that adapts to their unique communication styles and needs, making interactions with job coaches smoother and more effective.

CONTEXT
To solve these challenges, we designed a mobile gym fitness app with a clean, intuitive interface that prioritizes easy class discovery and booking. A dynamic schedule with real-time availability ensures users can see and book classes instantly.

After finalizing the design, I polished it further and built a quick prototype.
Results
Enhanced Communication: The app facilitated real-time, accessible communication between deaf clients and job coaches, reducing misunderstandings and fostering stronger working relationships.
Improved Resource Access: Users reported easier access to job-related information, scheduling tools, and document-sharing features, increasing their efficiency and independence.
Increased Empowerment: Deaf clients felt more empowered and supported in their employment journey, resulting in higher job satisfaction and improved career outcomes.
